Career

Libby is a senior practitioner / advocate specialising in criminal law, with two decades’ experience in public prosecutions. Most recently she was a Senior Crown Prosecutor with the Director of Public Prosecutions in the Northern Territory. Through the conduct of criminal trials and appeals, Libby has developed an expertise in all aspects of the criminal law including murder and manslaughter, sex crimes, drug prosecutions, fraud, offences against the administration of justice, driving causing death matters, juvenile justice, mental health matters, and criminal property forfeiture. She has extensive experience in the areas of advocacy and evidence.

Libby was Counsel Assisting in the SIEV 36 (boat explosion) coronial inquest and has experience in coronial law.

Before moving to the Northern Territory in 2004, for several years Libby was attached to the Special Crime Unit, ODPP (NSW), conducting high-profile and complex prosecutions, including referrals from the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Police Royal Commission, the Police Integrity Commission and the Crime Commission.

Libby is also experienced in legal management, having held the positions of Solicitor for Public Prosecutions Northern Territory and Managing Lawyer, Campbelltown Office, ODPP (NSW).

Libby has also worked with the Education Department (NSW) primarily dealing with compensation and equal opportunity matters and in commercial litigation with Allen, Allen and Hemsley.
