Career

Raelene was first admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Northern Territory in 1992. She has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Adelaide and a LLB from the University of Queensland. Raelene was an Associate to His Honour Justice Kearney, a Judge of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory before commencing work with the Northern Territory Department of Law (now Department of Justice).

In 1994 Raelene was appointed Crown Counsel. She has practised exclusively as a barrister since that time advising on a wide range of matters and appearing in various tribunals, the Northern Territory Supreme Court and Federal Courts (including the High Court) in a variety of cases.

Since Raelene’s move to the private bar in March 1999 she has continued to expand her practice and has appeared as lead counsel in a number of matters, both at first instance and on appeal. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel on 17 September 2004.

Raelene is currently the President of the Northern Territory Bar Association.
