Career

Susan was admitted to practice in August 1994 after being a Judges Associate and completing articles with De Silva Hebron Barristers and Solicitors, where she went on to become a partner in January 1999 and managing partner in 2003. 

Susan’s practise was primarily commercial with a civil litigation component and she was responsible for the supervision of the Commercial Division of the firm.  A significant part of her commercial practice related to property law which involved all aspects of conveyancing, leasing, town planning, subdivisions, easements, mortgages and financing (including bank foreclosures), and caveats.   Susan also handled numerous contractual matters, business transactions and disputes including matters between directors, shareholders and partners, and she had the conduct of a number of Supreme Court matters.   In addition, Susan dealt with matters relating to licensed premises, building and construction, contested estates, succession planning, associations and corporations, and she appeared regularly before the Northern Territory Licensing Commission.

Susan left De Silva Hebron to join William Forster Chambers in July 2008.
